Recently, some new exhibitions have been launchedby the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Painting and the Guangdong Museum of Art, providing visitors with tours of time, captivating visual experiences, and a glimpse of landscape paintings of the Lingnan area.
The Mind of Clouds and Mountains

More than 100 pieces of landscape paintings, created by over ten contemporary artists of Lingnan, will be exhibited in The Mind of Clouds and Mountains exhibition. As a significant part of Chinese paintings, the Lingnan landscape paintings are developed based on Lingnan culture, combining the picturesque scenes of southern China and its historical elements. It carries sentimental and cultural memories,and embodies the Lingnan people's affection for their homeland and pursuit of better lives.

The places, stories, customs, and fables endow paintings with a wider connection with the cultural world. Through artworks of Mao Xuhui, Ma Ke, Qin Qi, and Chen Yingjie, this exhibition explores these elements from various perspectives. Visitors will see multifarious images in the paintings covering still life, people, folklore, as well as natural scenery.

Flowers of Inspiration—The Image Evolution of Landscape and its Contemporary Turn

This exhibition is a diachronic reflection on changing times and iterating painting techniques. Time is a basic clue to it. In the exhibited paintings, landscapes are presented, transformed, and interpreted with different historic backgrounds, techniques, and forms as an effort to contemplate repeatedly mentioned motifs, including time, memory, life, and death.
