A splendid fireworks show to embrace the Year of the Dragon will be held above the surface of the Pearl River at Bai'etan (白鹅潭), Liwan district of Guangzhou on February 10, the first day of the Lunar New Year. It will be the first large-scale fireworks show arranged by the city government during the Spring Festival holiday, after a 12-year-long hiatus.
Guangzhou will host a grand fireworks show to celebrate the Chinese New Year at Bai'etan, Liwan district on February 10, officials announced at a press conference on January 24.
The fireworks show will last for 45 minutes starting at 8 p.m., bringing joyous and an amazing variety of scenes to audiences with world-class standards, which will greatly boost the festive atmosphere.
Divided into four chapters, the show will be kicked off by an 8-minute drone performance. A thousand drones will come together to form a huge dragon soaring up to the sky, and turn into images of kapok flower, the Five Rams Statue and Canton Tower — all are symbols of Guangzhou, as well as images of lantern and the Chinese characters "广州欢迎您" (Welcome to Guangzhou).
After the drone performance, fireworks designed with the pattern "2024" will be set off to mark the official opening of the fireworks display.
In the second chapter, fireworks will appear as clusters of flowers, sailing boats, mountains and rivers to embody a dynamic Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The third chapter will present to people that Guangzhou is a city full of vitality. Fireworks in various shapes and patterns will light up the night sky at medium to high altitudes, featuring spinning fireworks which resemble ballet dancing in the air.
In the final chapter, fireworks in the shape of a giant golden dragon will lead audiences to the climax. And fireworks with the pattern of Chinese characters "广州会更好" (Guangzhou will become better) will put an end to this spectacular show.
During the Spring Festival holiday, special fireworks display and drone performance will also be staged at the Mingzhu Bay(明珠湾) area in Nansha district. Small fireworks shows are expected at the Sunac Resortin Huadu district, and Bishuiwan Hot Spring Resort(碧水湾温泉度假区) in Conghua district to attract tourists.
