On weekends, strolling through parks can be a leisurely pastime for people in Guangzhou. By the end of 2023, a total of 346 pocket parks have been built in Guangzhou, scattered across the city blocks, within different communities, and even at one's doorstep. Check out the following pocket parks you may not have discovered yet in your vicinity.
Rongxi Valley Pocket Park (榕溪谷口袋公园)
The Rongxi Valley Pocket Park used to be a greenbelt, spanning approximately 6,000 square meters. This is a "park within the banyan forest." The lush greenery within resembles a fairy-tale world, with an elevated boardwalk hovering 30 cm above the banyan tree roots. This unique pathway not only safeguards the tree roots but also provides people with a recreational space where they can get close to nature and relax.

Sponge surfaces such as rainwater gardens, dry creeks, and grass-planted ditches can be spotted throughout the park, which enable natural infiltration, stagnation, and reuse of water. This feature ensures rapid drying of roads after rainfall, making it an ideal fitness venue for sports enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the park is home to more than 50 species of Lingnan flowers and plants, and more than 20 species of birds and insects have been introduced to the park since its completion. It also features AI-powered spinning bikes, plant and animal specimens, and so on, offering an enhanced interactive experience for visitors.
