Starting from January 10, Guangzhou adopts a new railway operating plan. Now, Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station handles the operation of 104 passenger trains, primarily northbound trains running on the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway, and slow-speed passenger trains.
Additionally, Guangzhou Metro is adjusting the transportation of Line 8 starting today (January 10). Two trains will be added to the line and the running interval will be shortened to coordinate with the adjustment in train schedule and the upcoming Spring Festival rush.
Since the opening of the transfer passage at Shitan Station on Line 8 with Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, the average daily passenger flow at the metro station has increased from nearly 10,000 to about 40,000. Among the passengers, 92% of them use the transfer passage.
Starting from January 10, two more trains will be added in both directions during morning and evening peak hours on Line 8. The minimum arriving interval of Line 8 metro trains during peak hours will be reduced from 2 minutes and 49 seconds to 2 minutes and 41 seconds.
China's 2024 Spring Festival travel rush is expected to begin in late January. Shitan Station will set up a green channel and an information desk to provide convenient services for homecoming passengers.
