The east extension section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 and the second phase of Line 7 are scheduled to be officially opened at 12 o'clock on December 28. With the opening of the two new lines, Guangzhou Metro's network will have a total mileage of 653 kilometers.
It will take about 80 minutes to make a one-way trip via Line 7. In the initial stage of the opening, trains will operate on a single route from Meidi Dadao to Yanshan, with a train frequency of approximately 5 minutes and 19 seconds.
A full trip on Line 5 will take about 70 minutes for passengers. During peak hours, both long-line trains from Jiaokou to Huangpu New Port and short-line trains from Jiaokou to Wenchong will be in operation, with a minimum travel interval of 2 minutes. Guangzhou Metro reminds residents to pay attention to the station announcements and platform displays to get on the right train.
The stations of the two new lines are located in the Huangpu District.
With the second phase being connected to the first phase of Line 7, it will effectively alleviate traffic congestion in the Panyu and Huangpu districts.
The east extension of Line 5 is integrated with the existing Line 5 and runs through the central area of Guangzhou, which prepares Guangzhou Metro to connect Foshan in the west and Dongguan in the east.
On the opening day of the new lines, Guangzhou Metro will organize interactive activities both online and offline for residents to explore and experience the services provided by the new lines.
