On September 26, the Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway started operation. It now takes just 73 minutes and 70 minutes, respectively, from Shanwei Railway Station to Guangzhou East Railway Station and Shenzhen North Railway Station.
The ticket was put on sale starting from September 24. As of 3 p.m. on September 25, a total of 182,000 train tickets had been sold.
The lowest prices of the second-class, first-class, and business-class seats are 162 RMB, 247 RMB and 541 RMB, respectively.
In addition, the Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway will be connected with the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway, which is expected to open also in 2023. By then, the travel time from Guangzhou to Shantou will be cut to 1.5 hours.
With a design speed of 350 km/h, the railway starts from Xintang Railway Station in Guangzhou and ends at Shanwei Railway Station, spanning 200 km and passing through Guangzhou, Huizhou, Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone and Shanwei.
The opening of the Guangzhou-Shanwei High-speed Railway will greatly facilitate the travel for local residents along the route, help eastern Guangdong better integrated into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote coordinated economic and social development in the region.
