The 2025 Greater Bay Area Lantern Carnival will be held in Nansha, Guangzhou, from January 22 to March 30. It is the largest lantern carnival in China in terms of scale, number of lantern sets, its duration, and number of participating cities. This was announced at a press conference held in Guangzhou on January 3, 2025.
The carnival boasts an impressive array of 218 light displays, 200,000 colorful lantern ornaments, over 2,000 varieties of regional delicacies, more than 1,000 types of Chinese New Year's gifts, and upwards of 1,000 performance activities.
Set in Nansha Bay, the carnival covers an area of 870 acres, incorporating three scenic spots: Puzhou Garden, Nansha Tin Hau Temple, and Nansha Coastal Park. The main spectation route exceeds three kilometers, showcasing elements from 11 cities across the Greater Bay Area and crafted meticulously by over 1,000 intangible cultural heritage craftsmen.
